It's been years since I've consistently blogged...

I just checked my LiveJournal account and it has been over a year since I posted there. And it's a permanent account. I probably will still use it as a private blog since I'm pretty sure none of my friends who ever used LiveJournal still do.

Anyhow, I'm really going to make an effort to start blogging at least once a week. Really, I'm going to do it. If I have to set an alarm on my phone to remind me to write then I will.

So life. A lot has happened to me lately and I don't even know where to begin to explain it all. ... uh. I guess I'll just go over major things that have happened to me since August.

I was a team member for a local young adults retreat called Alpha! It was my second year on team so I had a better idea of what I was getting myself into, but there were a lot of curve balls thrown our way this year. We had the smallest presenting team (22 people) but the largest set of candidates (29) since the retreat started in this area in 2009. Despite all the obstacles the retreat was a huge success! I lost a lot of sleep leading up to it and caught a pretty bad cold shortly after the retreat but it was all worth it. God certainly provided everything we needed and more. It was amazing to see Him working through each person who was there. The retreat was so successful that we're finally going to start doing a spring Alpha retreat! I'm hoping to be on team for this one as well but maybe in a different role than what I've done in the past. I can't really give any details about the retreat. If you're curious about it, you should sign up and go!

I started a new job in the beginning of September. I clean up after school at one of the local Catholic elementary/middle schools. It's not exactly a glamorous job, but the hours are consistent the pay is decent for a part time job, and I don't have to work on the weekends. It's a whole lot better than working in retail or selling insurance (the only other work fields I have any experience in). I'm probably going to have to pick up a second job but my availability stinks so I'm not really sure where to look for places who would hire me.

That's about as much as I feel like writing about for now. I'll try to post something else by the end of the week.

Until next time!

I thought I'd get back into blogging in general

So I started my food blog yesterday and while reading through another friend's blog, I decided it was time to jump back into blogging in general. I still have my old LiveJournal account, but I think I'll just use that for more personal posts that I don't feel compelled to share with the general public.

I guess I'll use this post as an introduction for now. Hello there! My name is Kathy. Well, it's actually Kathleen, but I usually go by Kathy on the internet or if you're a close friend. I came up with the username "HeyLookItsKathy" while I was in high school and AIM was still a thing. Since then, I've used it for just about every social media site I've been on and now I did a variation of it for my food blog (HeyLookKathyEats!). Kathy's just easier/shorter to type out than Kathleen.

Anyhow, I'm 24 years young. I love to cook and eat (hence the food blog). I also enjoy photography, video games, makeup, and singing. I waste way too much time on YouTube. Whether I've got Kurt Schneider's channel on autoplay in the background, I'm watching one of Bubz's tutorials, laughing at one of Dan or Phil's vlogs, or drooling over one of SortedFood's new recipes, I'm almost always on YouTube while I'm on the computer. As a matter of fact, I have Not Another Boy Band's cover of "Kiss You" playing in the background as I'm typing this post. ... and yes, it's on autoplay in Kurt's recent uploads list. I have no shame.

While I'm not wasting away in front of the computer, I love to hang out with my friends. I'm currently still a student at a local state college majoring in Civil Engineering. I've been taking my time with school, but I figure as long as I get a degree eventually, it's not that big of a deal that I took longer than normal to graduate. I'm also involved with a Catholic campus ministry group at one of the local universities where I'm a member of the music ministry team.

I'm not sure what else to write about myself at the moment, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments below! Just a fair warning for future posts-- if this blog turns out to be anything like my LiveJournal was, be prepared to read some fairly lengthy posts. I like to go into a lot of detail. and ramble. a lot. Hence the title of the blog.

Until next time!
